European F:250 Championship

Rogozno, Poland (16th - 17th August)

The European F:250 Championship is a one round event comprising of four heat races.

At the UIM F:250 European Championship held in Rogozno, Poland Wayne had good speed right from the start and qualified in second place, just behind Max Cremona, with Ingo Hepner setting the third fastest time. In race 1 Wayne got off to an ok start but required some determined driving on the first lap to hold second place. Wayne was able to extend the gap to third but was unable to reduce the gap to the leader. The win went to Cremona, with Hepner coming home in third. For the second race Wayne lost a place on the opening lap, but managed to finish the race in second place, the win went to Cremona, with Emil Emilov taking third place. Things looked as if they might be going wrong for Wayne when in Sunday's morning warmup the engine was suffering from an electrical issue. Whilst the team couldn't find the root cause of the problem it was resolved for the next race. Race 3 and 4 were similar to race 1 with Wayne needing to perform some determined driving to maintain second place on the opening lap. Cremona made it a clean sweep with four race wins and Wayne had a full house of second places. Third place in race 3 went to Emilov, and Hepner in race 4. Max Cremona was crowned UIM F:250 European Champion with a maximum points win, with Wayne receiving the silver medal and Emil Emilov the bronze.

Round 1 - Znin, Poland (6th - 7th June)

This event was cancelled due to excessive wind and the resulting unsuitable water conditions.

Round 2 - Bad Saarow, Germany (19th - 20th September)

At the first round of the UIM F:250 World Championship held in Bad Saarow, Germany Wayne got of to a good start after making some setup changes and was fastest in practice. The weather conditions worsened for qualifying and he was unable to find a clear track during the brief windows of low wind, but did manage to post the 3rd fastest time, just 0.1 seconds off the fastest time set my Max Cremona, with Marek Peeba in second. Wayne got an ok start in the first race and was holding position, but as the race was late in the day and the sun was low causing visibility issues for a significant portion of the lap and Wayne slipped to 5th by the end of the race. The win went to Cremona with Peeba second and Nikola Todorov third. In the second race the lower starting order hampered Waynes start, but with just two corners to go before the chequered flag the propeller broke causing him to stop. The win again went to Cremona, with Peeba second and Todorov third. For the third and final race Wayne was starting from the back of the field and took a gamble on using an untested propeller, but this setup was not as quick and could only manage 5th place. Cremona made it three from three, with Todorov second and Thomas Mantripp third. In the overall classification Wayne was 7th, with the win going to Max Cremona, Nikola Todorov was second and Marek Peeba third. The second and final round of the championship will be held in Boretto, Italy on the 4th-5th October.

Round 3 - Boretto, Italy (4th - 5th October)

At the final round of the UIM F:250 World Championship held in Boretto, Italy Wayne had to overcome some unexplained engine problems in free practice. However he managed to post the third fastest time in qualifying despite missing valuable setup time in practice. Pole position went to Nikola Todorov, with Max Cremona in second. In the first race Wayne got a good start and maintained his starting position and finished the race in a comfortable third place, with the win going to Todorov and Cremona coming home in second. The weather conditions deteriorated on the second day and it became unsuitable for racing. This meant Wayne finished in third place, with the win going to Nikola Todorov and Max Cremona finishing in second. This result improved Waynes position in the final championship standings to fourth, just outside the medals. Max Cremona was crowned world champions, with Nikola Todorov in second and Marek Peeba in third.
